Acupuncture is a form of therapy in which small needles are carefully inserted into specific areas of the body to cause a physiological reaction that help the body recover from a wide variety of diseases and conditions. Acupuncture is only one field of traditional Chinese veterinary medicine (TCVM) that can be integrated into conventional (western) medicine to work synergistically for prevention and treatment of diseases.
The goal of acupuncture is to promote the body to heal itself. TCVM encourages healing by correcting the imbalance of energy in the body. Acupuncture has been proven to treat a variety of conditions such as osteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease, trauma, cancer, and metabolic disease.
Chronic conditions may require weekly sessions for maximal benefit. The goal is to achieve the greatest duration of time where your pet's condition appears improved or has resolved. The effects of veterinary acupuncture is cumulative so consistent treatment is more beneficial than intermittent.
